Bollywood dreams and Paris nightmares

April was such a nice month and it’s usually a perfect moment for a big spring cleaning. Going through my bathroom closet, I was very pleasantly surprised when I saw a Pierre Cardin bag stuck in the back of it. I was less pleasantly surprised when I realized the bag contained the Tristan & Yseult fragrances that were relased when that infamous musical opened in Paris. That was a press gift of course. I hate to throw away stuff that is in mint condition so I decided to give them to my mother who is going to Vietnam this summer. I’m sure my cousins are going to love these fragrances, but if they don’t, they can always use them as a mosquito repellent. I am so proud to help poorer countries by sending them Pierre Cardin stuff.

On April 29, Bombay Dreams opened on Broadway. No, I wasn’t there. I couldn’t afford a trip to New York. Instead, I went to Beaubourg to watch a couple of Bollywood musicals taht were screened at their great Indian film retrospective. At €5 a seat, I could afford that. It must be great to be a young lover when you live in India. Fountains just burst out from nowhere when you sing ‘I love you’. Hundreds of dancers are always here to back you up. And those saris ! And that Attitude, with a capital A ! One of the films, called Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham (to be released in France next June) features a wonderful number on « It’s raining men ». One beauty tip from Bollywood : when you have long hair, you should always manage to have an electric fan right behind you so you hair can flow sexily in the fake wind. That’s what I call Attitude.

In April, I also went to see Creatures another time to see a cast replacement. Olivier Ruidavet was playing the Devil and he was excellent. He will play the part again on May 8th for those of you who would like to know. Creatures is a musical about the monsters, witches, devils and other scary entities that haunt a young man’s nightmares. It made me think : what if I make a musical about my nightmares ? So I listed the people (or should I say ‘creatures’) that have haunted my nights lately. For my defence, I currently have hay fever and take medication against allergies. It gives me weird dreams. Anyway, here is the list :
— Charlize Theron in Monster (fascinating)
— Laura Presgurvic (from the French musical version of Gone with the wind, this young lady really scares me off !)
— A little bitch from my aerobics class (she thinks she’s the best but she only makes big moves, some day I have to hit her)
— Madonna (I love her, but I REALLY need tickets for her next concert)
— Aileen Quinn, the little girl who played Annie in the film version (don’t ask me why I dreamed of her, I have no idea, but… isn’t she scary ?)
— last but not least, a roller-blading Mona Lisa (it’s really beyond my control)

So a few questions popped in my head :
— Should I see my therapist more than once a week ?
— How can all the creatures fit into one musical ?
— Can I get Madonna and Laura Presgurvic to play their own roles ?

Well, it’s too to difficult to deal with my creatures. Instead, I’ll go shopping. I need an electric fan.
